About Potens
Potens was founded in Birkenhead, Wirral in 1989 by John and Rachel Farragher, motivated by the belief that the way forward for the development of services for people with a learning difficulty lay within the concept of partnership. The partnership involves four main principles:

Our specialist support staff are committed to providing 24 hour person-centred care within the structures that ensure each person has access to appropriate activities, including employment opportunities where possible.
Potens is a provider of specialist support to those with a learning disability and to adults with enduring or recovering mental health needs in the North East and North West of England, North Wales and Northern Ireland. We currently provides a range of services including residential care homes, single and multi-occupancy supported living and day services.
Our Head Office is at Birkenhead, staffed by an Office Manager and Receptionist. The Chief Operating Officer works closely with John Farragher to focus on the strategic development of the company. The Director of Operations has management responsibility for the Operations Team. Each geographical area is managed by an Area Manager; the North East Area Manager being supported by the Head of Care. The Director of Finance & Finance Team, together with the Estates Manager, provide comprehensive support services to the Home & Service Managers and staff teams.
We also have a Quality Assurance & Training Manager in recognition of the emphasis placed by the organisation on training and staff development to ensure that a highly skilled workforce provides individualised care.
