Residential

Residential services are for people who are unable to live in their own home, even with support from domiciliary care services. Residencies can be for a temporary or short period (known as respite care or short break), or for a long period, depending on the needs of the individual.
Potens offers residential services to adults with learning disabilities including those on the autistic spectrum and/or mental health issues (plus Korsakoffs Syndrome), in a supportive and caring environment, where as much independence as possible is encouraged.
Residents of both sexes are welcome and a wide range of needs, including complex needs and behaviour that challenges, can be met.Support staff work as named key workers, assessing, preparing and implementing a Personal Support Plan which highlights support requirements around residents’ needs, wishes and aspirations. The Support Plan is reviewed every six months with the individual, their carers and concerned professionals to ensure that support provided is relevant and appropriate.
Residential services typically provide personal care, utility bills, meals and drinks (including any special dietary requirements), personal laundry, some internal and external activities alongside support defined in the Personal Support Plan.
Residents are encouraged to treat their own rooms as their own, personalise them as appropriate and come and go as required. Personal choice is very important and people are encouraged to bring their own items such as TV, radio, furniture etc
Potens aim to create an environment which enables privacy and dignity to be maintained, respecting people’s choices and wishes.
Services are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC); the Care and Social Services Inspectorate for Wales (CSSIW) or the Regulation & Quality Improvement Agency (RQIA) in Northern Ireland who carry out regular inspections to ensure we comply with their regulations and fulfil our service obligations as providers of good quality care.
