Learning Disabilities
Balfour Road is a small residential home created for women who have a learning difficulty between the ages of 18 and 65. Staffing is provided 24hrs a day with a sleep-in staff member overnight. If required 1:1 staffing can be arranged.
Balfour Road is a four bedroom terraced house located on a quiet residential street in Birkenhead. The house is within walking distance to Birkenhead and there is easy access to a bus service, which will take you to Liverpool. In walking distance of the house there is a GP, dentist (specialising in people who have learning difficulties), post office and a museum.
FACILITIES
The people who live in Balfour Road lead active lives and contribute daily to the upkeep and running of the house. Staff assist all people in the home to learn and develop these skills giving the opportunity to move on to a more independent life if that is what they want. Quite a few people have used Balfour Road in this manner as a stepping-stone to move on to independent living.
Many people have said that Balfour Road is a very homely environment; we think the size and layout of the house assists in this factor. The house has a modern lounge and kitchen diner on the ground floor. This floor also has one bedroom and a shower room/toilet. The kitchen leads out to a small private patio area where people sit out in the summer and barbeques are held. There is also a smoking shelter outside as the home is a no - smoking area. The upstairs comprises of three bedrooms and a bathroom/toilet. There is also a staff bedroom and office on this floor.
