Information about the conditions cared for at this location:
Learning Disabilities
Established in 1989, Drumary House is a registered residential service for 16 adults who have a learning disability, both male and female between 19 and 80 years of age. We have supported people in Fermanagh for a number of years in our continued commitment to those people who have a learning disability.
Drumary House is a large detached purpose built house. It is situated in the picturesque village of Derrygonnelly, within walking distance to shops, post-office, doctors surgery and two day care centres for adults with a learning disability. It is also close to the town of Enniskillen.
The house has extensive mature gardens that surround the home with a large patio area for relaxing and barbeques etc. There are 4 bedrooms on the ground floor, with all remaining bedrooms on the first floor. All bedrooms have a TV aerial and nurse call system. There are two spacious lounges and one large dining room. The home is a non-smoking home with a semi-covered area in the garden for people who wish to smoke.
STAFF TEAM AND DEVELOPMENT
The manager has considerable experience within the Learning Disability field and is working towards the Registered Managers Award. The staff team consists of 4 senior support workers and 8 support workers, male and female.
All staff participate in mandatory training, which is a requirement of the company in addition to further staff development activities, which are designed to meet the needs of service users. Support staff are positively encouraged to complete NVQ level 2 and 3 to enhance their knowledge and skill base.
ACTIVITIES
There is a range of local day services and other educational facilities, which are accessed by the people who live in Drumary. Here they attend a variety of courses from computers to flower arranging. In the evening there are various in-house activities such as art, film nights, music evenings and games nights arranged. They also regularly go to the local pub, concerts and local clubs. A lot of the people who live in the house also enjoy going to church weekly and participate in church related community events on a regular basis.
