Heath Lodge is a registered residential home providing 24hr support, 365 days of the year for 6 adults, male and female aged 16+, with Learning Difficulties and who may also display high risk and challenging behaviour.

 

The house is a 3-storey building with front car parking and large side/rear garden, which has a patio area. The driveway, parking area at the front of the home. Access can be gained from here to both sides of the home, via secured gates. The ground floor comprises of a communal lounge area, which is homely and comfortable, a TV, DVD player and Freeview television is provided for viewing. There is a smoking area, which is located outside at the rear of the home and leads onto the patio & garden.

 

There is a large kitchen with cooking facilities. The dining area which again leads onto the patio is within a large conservatory, were there is seating for staff /service users in a communal setting. There are 2 bedrooms on the ground floor both of which have en-suite facilities comprising of toilet, hand basin and shower. There is a separate toilet and hand-washing sink for staff and visitors.

 

In addition there is a separate ‘Annex’ for one person. This is a self contain ground floor provision offering a bedroom, lounge, kitchen and bathroom including a bath and overhead shower. The purpose of this is to encourage more challenging people the option to reside away from the main body of the home in order to address their behaviour and limit the effect that their behaviour may have on others. At all times they will be continued be supported by their assigned 1:1 staff member. The Annex can also be used as a ‘stepping stone' to independent living whilst still ensuring the level of supervision is maintained in order to fulfil a supported level of care during this time.

 

The main stairway leads to the first floor, which comprises of 3 bedrooms for the service users, which have en-suite facilities and shower; there is a large bath/shower room for anyone who prefers to use a bath and a sleep-in room/office for the staff. On the third floor is situated further office/meeting room. All bedrooms and communal areas have a nurse call system to ensure that staff are able to attain to the needs of the individual when required.

 

Heath Lodge is situated on the outskirts of Warrington and is easily accessible via the bus/train, the bus station and train station, which have main routes to other cities/towns, the buses have wheelchair access. There are several shopping centres, which provide a wide array of shopping, the centres provide lifts, toilets and have refreshment facilities.

 

Within walking distance are a Doctors surgery, dental practice, local hospital and police station, local shops, Post Office and a bank. There are 3 supermarkets nearby. There is an active social scene with several pubs close by which sometimes have entertainment in the evening, a cinema complex with ten pin bowling and restaurants, a swimming pool and gym and a local park which sometimes has organised events. There are always events happening within the Warrington area, which include D.A.D Disability Awareness Day in July and on average attract more than 10000 people. The local council runs this, and plays an active role with adults with learning, physical and mental heath problems.

 

There are local churches of all denominations and church groups that organise simple meetings such as coffee mornings, car boot sales, bric-a-brac sales and concerts.
