Walmersley Road in Bury is a Registered Residential home for people with learning disabilities, including those on the autistic spectrum, for long term, short term and respite support needs. Potens are proud to announce that Walmersley Road has been accredited with the National Autistic Society as providing appropriate support for individuals on the autistic spectrum.

Walmersley Road offers accredited support to address; autistic spectrum disorders; Asperger Syndrome; learning disabilities; behaviour that challenges and daily living difficulties. Their accreditation with the National Autistic Society (NAS) made particular reference to their skills in promoting independence, enabling service user involvement and focusing on outcomes.

The staff team are skilled in supporting vulnerable, high functioning individuals with Asperger Syndrome and associated complex needs, such as anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), substance abuse and relationship difficulties. Support staff work in partnership with local Probation & Forensic Teams, CPN’s, National Autistic Society, Social Workers & substance misuse professionals to aid effective and appropriate support.

The skilled staff team benefit from training and guidance from Potens Behavioural Support & Therapy Team, accessing solutions to communication issues, daily living difficulties and any behaviour that challenges. Facilities – Large detached house with 6 rooms, with neutral decoration and space for sleeping & living in each personal room. There are a variety of communal rooms, bathroom, lounge, dining room & kitchen, plus large garden.
